  • Referring website, search term, advertisement, or campaign source.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Drainage Helper and its service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, scripts, tags, and similar technologies to understand website use, measure advertising, maintain security, and improve the website.

These technologies may load when you visit the production website. Drainage Helper does not currently provide a site-level cookie preference center that prevents Google Analytics, Google Ads, or PostHog from loading until a visitor makes a selection.

You can generally manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies or scripts may affect website functionality and may reduce our ability to understand website and advertising performance. Third-party controls described below may also allow you to manage certain advertising preferences.

PostHog Analytics and Session Replay

We use PostHog to understand how visitors use Drainage Helper, evaluate website performance, identify errors, and improve content and usability.

Depending on the PostHog features and configuration in use, PostHog may process:

  • IP address, approximate location, and analytics identifiers.
  • Browser, operating-system, and device information.
  • Pages visited, referral source, navigation paths, and session duration.
  • Clicks, scrolling, pointer movement, and interactions with page elements.
  • Website errors, performance information, and session-level activity.
  • Page content and interactions with website elements, subject to the privacy controls described below.

We may use PostHog session replay to review how visitors interact with pages. Our contact and drainage-help forms are excluded from PostHog autocapture and masked in session replay. Our custom form events report the form type and whether submission started, succeeded, or failed; they do not include the values entered into the form. After a successful non-test submission, we associate the visitor’s PostHog profile with the name and email address submitted so we can understand the path that led to the request and evaluate form performance.

We do not intentionally use PostHog to collect highly sensitive personal information. Visitors should not enter financial account details, Social Security numbers, medical information, passwords, or other highly sensitive information into website forms or free-text fields.

PostHog processes information on our behalf. Additional information is available in the PostHog Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and PostHog privacy documentation (opens in a new tab).

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure visits, navigation, engagement, and website performance. Google Analytics may process information such as your IP address, browser and device information, page URLs, referral information, approximate location, and analytics identifiers. We use this information to understand how the site is used and improve its content and performance.

Google provides additional information in its notice about how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services (opens in a new tab) and the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).

Google Ads

We use Google Ads to advertise Drainage Helper and may use Google advertising technologies to measure campaign performance, attribute conversions, create advertising audiences, or show advertisements to people who previously visited the website.

When you visit Drainage Helper, including after interacting with a Google advertisement, Google may receive information such as your IP address, page URL, browser or device information, advertising identifiers, campaign information, and actions that we designate as conversions.

Google may use cookies and similar technologies to measure advertising effectiveness, detect fraud, limit repeated advertisements, and, depending on your Google settings and the features we enable, personalize advertisements or support remarketing.

Google provides additional information in its notice about how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services (opens in a new tab), the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab), and its explanation of advertising technologies (opens in a new tab).

You can manage Google advertising preferences through Google My Ad Center (opens in a new tab). You may also use the Digital Advertising Alliance's WebChoices tool (opens in a new tab) to manage participating companies' use of information for interest-based advertising. Opting out of personalized advertising does not necessarily stop all advertising or advertising measurement.

Service-Provider Referrals and Paid Lead Transfers

Drainage Helper may help a homeowner determine what type of professional could be appropriate for a drainage project. If you request this help, we may consult with you about the property, the drainage concern, the location, the desired work, and other project details.

After that consultation, and only after you agree to a referral, we may provide your contact information and relevant project information to one service provider that we believe is the best available fit for the job. The selected provider may pay Drainage Helper for the referral or lead.

We do not automatically distribute the same homeowner request to multiple service providers. If the selected provider is unable or unwilling to handle the project, we will request additional authorization before referring the request to another provider.

The selected provider is an independent business. Once information is transferred, that provider may process and retain it under its own privacy practices and legal obligations. Drainage Helper does not control the provider's scheduling, estimates, communications, workmanship, data security, or privacy practices.

You may decline a referral or withdraw your authorization before the information is transferred. Declining a referral does not prevent you from accessing the public educational content on Drainage Helper. Consent to receive calls or text messages from a provider, when applicable, will be disclosed separately at the point where that consent is requested.

How We Disclose Information

Service providers that support our website

We may disclose information to companies that help us operate Drainage Helper, including hosting, analytics, advertising, conversion measurement, email, security, spam-prevention, and technical-support providers.

A selected drainage service provider

After a consultation and your authorization, we may disclose your contact and project information to one selected service provider as described in the Service-Provider Referrals and Paid Lead Transfers section.

Legal and safety purposes

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; respond to a lawful government request; protect the rights, safety, or property of Drainage Helper, our visitors, or others; investigate fraud or misuse; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Business changes

Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable law.

At your direction

We may disclose information when you request, authorize, or consent to the disclosure.

Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising

Drainage Helper does not sell personal information to data brokers or unrelated third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

Two activities described in this policy may be treated as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under certain privacy laws:

  • After consultation and your authorization, we may receive compensation for transferring a homeowner's contact and project information to one selected service provider.
  • Google advertising technologies may process online identifiers and website activity for advertising measurement, audience creation, remarketing, or personalized advertising.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights concerning these activities. You may decline a service-provider referral before information is transferred. For privacy or opt-out questions, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request."

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including responding to requests, performing consultations, documenting consent, managing referrals, measuring performance, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and satisfying legal, accounting, and contractual obligations.

Retention periods may vary based on the type of information, why it was collected, whether a request or referral remains active, the settings of our service providers, and applicable legal requirements. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.

Your Privacy Rights and Data-Removal Requests

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have the right to:

  • Ask whether we process personal information about you.
  • Request access to or a portable copy of certain personal information.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of personal information.
  • Withdraw a referral authorization before information is transferred.
  • Opt out of certain targeted advertising, selling, or sharing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Appeal a decision concerning a privacy request where applicable.
  • Receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right.

To request access, correction, deletion, or another privacy action, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request." Describe your request and identify the email address or other information associated with your interaction with us.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, but we may require evidence of their authority and verification of the consumer's identity.

If information has already been transferred to an independent service provider, you may also need to contact that provider directly regarding information it maintains. We will identify the provider when reasonably possible and required.

Privacy rights are not absolute. We may retain or decline to delete information when permitted or required by law, including information needed for security, fraud prevention, consent and transaction records, accounting, legal compliance, or the establishment or defense of legal claims.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect collected information. However, no website, transmission method, analytics platform, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Email and website forms are not appropriate for highly sensitive information. Do not send financial account details, Social Security numbers, medical information, passwords, or similar information through Drainage Helper.

Third-Party Websites and Providers

Drainage Helper may link to government agencies, manufacturers, service providers, educational resources, or other third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy, security, content, services, or business practices. Review the privacy policy of a third party before providing it with personal information.

Children's Privacy

Drainage Helper is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact [email protected] so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

International Visitors

Drainage Helper is operated in the United States. If you access the website from another country, information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or another country where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our website, referral practices, technology providers, advertising practices, or legal obligations change. When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through an additional website notice when appropriate.
